Job Purpose: Managing operations of cloud platforms and enterprise applications
Location: Remote, various locations throughout California
Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing operations for our cloud platforms that include the Anthology (formerly named Campus Management) ERP and SIS on Azure, Google Workspace (formerly named G Suite), system backups, and device management, as well as other enterprise applications as they are deployed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to designing and implementing technical solutions across a multi-SaaS ecosystem; troubleshooting and, if required, working with vendors on timely solutions; thoroughly documenting changes, new features, and functionality.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills are required to isolate problems, recommend solutions, and implement solutions. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment. This individual will work closely with the Desktop Engineer, Security Analyst, and Information Systems group to ensure all systems are stable and secure.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the role and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed within the scope of work:
- Manage and maintain secure Role-Based Access Control for all systems under management
- Experience managing Academics, Financial Aid, and Student Account modules
- Management of Google Workspace for staff and students
- Engineer, test, install solutions to problems, and defines areas for improvement as needed
- Coordination of changes in conjunction with established change management policies
- Monitoring systems alerts, performance, and utilization reporting
- Quickly responds to incidents and requests within a ticketing system, providing resolution within a complex, fast-paced business environment
- Technical point of contact for testing, planning, and rolling out new features and updates
- Review current infrastructure and make recommendations for optimization
- Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to other teams and team members
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to manage relational databases and work with data sets like pivot tables
- Administration and integration management of Okta
- Manage Cloud IaaS platforms including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure
- Perform backups and manage data retention policies for all systems
- Responsible for endpoint device security and patching
- Foster a team-oriented, collaborative and positive work environment
- Meet schedules and timelines
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Work independently with little direction
- Analyze situations accurately; exercise sound judgment; work independently; and adopt an effective course of action
- Operate a computer and related office equipment
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Assure compliance with applicable District policies, procedures, and governmental regulations
- Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, staff, and faculty
Minimum 5 years of increasingly technical experience in a systems administrator, systems engineer, or equivalent role
- At least one active Systems Administrator or Devops certification desired
- Experience with Okta management
- One or more years of work experience in higher education
- Experience with managing ERP/SIS SaaS solutions and integrations
- Google Apps Certified Administrator and/or Azure Administrator and/or AWS Administrator

Calbright College is a statewide online college where all instruction and support are done via various online technologies both in person and remotely. Requires the ability to function in a remote online instructional environment performing work of primarily a sedentary nature. Work is performed indoors where minimal safety considerations exist.
