The Cybersecurity Resiliency team is a shared service within the Network Security organization.  The team of 6 engineers functions to maintain the security posture, continuity of operations, and situational awareness for the department’s critical devices and systems. This is a highly software-oriented role; Software Systems Engineering/DevSecOps. Key areas of work for the team include: 1.) Reporting and dashboard generation 2.) Health monitoring and alerting 3.) Key integrations with various tools 4.) Orchestration and Automation

The Resiliency team is seeking engineers to design and build an innovative set of Security Operations toolsets using cutting edge technologies.

This is a first shift Mon-Fri EST role, however evening or weekend work may be required occasionally during outages, urgent projects, key launches, etc.


10% – Planning & Analysis:
Researches and analyzes business trends and behavioral data to identify opportunities for improvements and new initiatives
Drives the evaluation, development, and recommendation of specific technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements
Researches and designs best fit infrastructure, network, database, and security architectures for products
Proactively creates and maintains tools for monitoring and support
Participates in project planning and reporting across multiple efforts

30% – Delivery & Execution:
Drives configuration, debugging, and support for infrastructure
Drives field and corporate roll-outs of technology
Drives the stand up of necessary system software, hardware, and equipment (physical or virtual) to meet changing infrastructure needs

50% – Support & Enablement:
Collaborates with product and project teams to understand needs and enable them with infrastructure
Supports technology architecture design review efforts for project and product teams
Leverages tooling and custom applications to monitor the operational status of applications, infrastructure, networks, databases, and security; optimizes and tunes performance as appropriate
Drives root cause analysis, debugging, support, and post-mortem analysis for security incidents and service interruptions
Maintains, upgrades, and supports existing systems and infrastructure to ensure operational stability
Opens and manages vendor problem tickets to resolution
Drives the production of in-house documentation around solutions
Monitors tools and proactively helps teams struggling with systems issues
Provides application support for software running in production
Creates scripts and tools that drive automation and enable product teams and end users to move towards self service

10% – Learning:
Keeps abreast of innovations and industry trends as well as changes to internal systems and determines how they impacts tools, training, and support necessary to keep systems up, running, and secure
Participates in and contributes to learning activities around modern systems engineering core practices (communities of practice)
Proactively views articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations

Typically reports to the Systems Engineer Manager or Sr. Manager.

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant condition would be infrequent and unobjectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3+ years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Skills Needed:
8+ Years demonstrated experience with the following:

Large scale application development, including:

Front end web application programming (Django, Javascript/JSON, Ajax, HTML5, are preferred)
Back end programming (we use Python but skills in higher level programming languages C/C++/Java are valued)
Experience with complex computer science topics such as multi-threading, microservices, performance optimization, caching, object-oriented programming, etc.
Ability to write code that:

Interfaces with other tool APIs
Populates and retrieves data from databases (postgresql or similar)
Is hosted in the cloud for compute (PCF or similar)
Is stored in a repository (Git or similar) including ability to manage version control
Is modular, reusable, with optimized algorithms

Other key skills include:

Experience in a 24x7x365 operations environment
Ability to understand requirement use cases that are ingested into the team from the larger department
Ability to regression, unit, and integration test code including generating test data sets (Selenium or similar)
Comfortable in Unix/Linux including common commands, file structure, permissions, file editing, accounts, etc
Highly collaborative behaviors including pairing, wiki generation, etc. Willing to help others and receive help.
Data analysis, as we work with large data sets used for high stakes decision making
Critical thinking, which is vital for problem decomposition, identification of requirement gaps, test cases, code debug, managing interdependencies of tasks, etc
Communication ability (written and verbal), emotional intelligence, skills in conflict resolution

Nice to have:

Coding to interact with hardware
Ability to wireframe front end layouts (Balsamiq or similar)
Ability to write code that generates graphs (Apache eCharts or similar)
CI/CD Pipelines (Jenkins or similar)
Knowledge of SQL queries for use of Looker data mining in GCP data lake
Ability to write, debug, and customize scripts to improve operations and automate repetitive tasks
Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Demisto, Terraform, AlgoSec, etc)
Understanding Technology Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Any Cybersecurity exposure, eg software hardening, experience with IAM solutions as a user ie CyberArk, Sailpoint
Unix/Linux System Administration
Network Engineering, OSI layers, IP addressing, protocols, firewalls, web proxies, network access controllers
Atlassian products, Smartsheets, Agile Methodologies
Preferred qualifications:
Related Master’s degree and/or related certifications
