WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Reporting to Leadership Team of the Planning & Manufacturing Organization, the Director of Foundation & Services is a key member of the team that develops strategy, design, and leads the development of high-quality, low-latency, scalable data foundation and services that serve all of the Planning & Manufacturing Platforms globally for Nike. As Director, you will lead teams of data engineers and software engineers that are building and maintaining our entire common data and events foundation that will use a single ingestion pattern to SaaS solutions. You obsess in serving Nike consumers and always bias on the side of action. You have a confirmed ability to rapidly learn and evolve organization in using new technologies and methodologies and you have experience in taking ownership and delivering results of noticeable high quality.
More About the Person We are Looking For:Demonstrated experience leading teams over multiple platforms
Experience building cloud scalable, real-time, high-performance distributed data solutions
Breadth of knowledge across data analytics and engineering fields
Strength in critical thinking and translating strategy to measurable objectives
Ability to run multiple initiatives at any time with varying customer needs
Technical leadership / mentorship in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline software development team environment
Excellent Supply Chain knowledge
Experience with OKR (Objectives and Key Results) methodology
WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?
Thought Leadership:Accountable for the technical direction of the group, using technical specialists and fostering technical innovation
Drive the creation of Common Data’s Logical and Technical Architecture to support all Planning & Manufacturing Platforms near and long-term strategy and priorities
Deliver Common Data Foundation, integration patterns and services to ingest data into SaaS platform at canonical level that fulfills the needs of core capabilities
Build egress, consumption layers, and services with quality
Build robust observability to ensure predictable delivery of data and capabilities
Be a technical expert and contributor in developing long term product and epic level strategies
Drive the team to establish standard methodologies, define success and develop critical metrics to continuously evolve
Research, evaluate and utilize new technologies/tools/frameworks centered around heavy-volume data processing
Influence product road maps to include tech enablers to keep the products evergreen
Promote cross-team and cross-organizational information sharing through multiple forums (e.g., user groups, tech talks, design reviews, internal blogs)
Management:Provides recommendations to team squad structure and planning
Mentor and guide Tech Leads and Engineering Managers
Prepare and deliver performance evaluations and conduct performance management coaching
Make hiring decisions across all the Planning and Manufacturing squads and develop top talent
Build operational superiority in supporting products, platforms, and applications
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?
This Director will work closely with other Engineering, Program, Product, and Business teams to help build the next generation Technology Platforms to support Nike’s future growth. You will also partner closely with Product and Engineering Directors to ensure that goals, objectives, and road maps are aligned with the technical strategy. Additionally, this individual will work with Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Data & Analytics, and other Enterprise level teams to build and deliver robust and scalable technology solutions for Planning & Manufacturing organization.
What you bring:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other relevant subject area, or equivalent experience
10+ years of management experience of robust software engineering teams
6+ years hands-on experience in design, development, and testing of distributed data products
4+ years proven ability with cloud technologies based on AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platforms
Experience in designing, developing, and deploying large-scale solutions for multi-national corporations
Consistent record delivering platform solutions in a complex environment that are highly scalable
Experience with Hadoop (or similar) and related processing frameworks such as Spark, Hive, Sqoop, Kafka, Nifi, and Apache Airflow
Expert knowledge and experience with a diversity of tools and platforms
Experience in micro service architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful Services using languages such as Java, Node, or Scala
Exposure to NoSQL data stores such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, or MongoDB
Exposure to relational data stores like MySQL and Oracle
Exposure to monitoring and tracing tools like Splunk, SignalFx, and New Relic
Exposure to continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests (continuous delivery experience preferred)
Experience in Supply Chain domain areas like Merchandise Financial Planning, Assortment Planning, Inventory Forecasting and Management, Multi-node Inventory optimization, Finished Goods, and Materials Supply Planning is a plus
Experience in implementing or integrating with enterprise scale packages like SAP S4, Blue Yonder SCP or o9 SCM
Understanding of Scrum and Agile principles
Comfortable leading globally distributed and diverse teams
Comfortable attending meetings with partners across multiple global locations
Comfortable supporting local activities in building and growing local Nike Global Technology presence
Excellent verbal and written communications and collaboration skills to effectively connect with both business and technical teams
